Orthographic and Exploded Drawing
Four A3 sheets I created to cover Orthographic Drawing and exploded drawing for GCSE. These sheets should cover the basics that would be useful for student’s GCSE D&T coursework and also the exam. There are three lesson sheets and a Homework. all of the sheets have supporting Youtube tutorials. These are available at Mr Ridley’s Design and Technology Youtube channel. For the second sheet there is the choice of a set of instructional clips or a simple overview clip these could be used for distance learning or a cover lesson.
Orthographic Drawing Exercises
Here is a drawing exercise for GCSE D&T or Engineering. there are three tasks on the sheet that are based around creating Orthographic drawing from Isometric CAD images. This kind of task is common in GCSE exam papers.
this sheet could be used as part of a drawing lesson or as cover work or a home learning task.

Exploded Drawing - Draw a clock
This is a drawing exercise for students to create an exploded drawing of clock and mechanism. This resource consists of two A3 drawing sheets. One has a isometric drawing grid, whist one is plain. There is also a further A4 sheet of instructions and keywords to further support learning.
This could be used as a stand alone lesson, as part of a Design and Technology or Engineering scheme of learning. This could also be set as a home learning task by utilising the YouTube clips as step by step tutorial.

Make a Cupcake Box
This sheet provides a net or development for students to create a small functional Cupcake box. This can be used as part of a food or graphics lesson or a food lesson. The sheet is A3 size and can be copied onto white card, this gives a good size to actually hold a Single Cupcake.
We have used this in a multi part food lesson in which students can design and make a package and a food product. The sheet gives details of the relevant food packaging information requirements.
There is a Youtube Clip On my channel “ Mr Ridley Design and Technology” showing how to assemble the Cupcake box. Using a Youtube clip this could be used as cover or home learning.

This sheet provides a net or development for students to create a small functional pizza box. This can be used as part of a food or graphics lesson or a food lesson. The sheet is A3 size and can be copied onto white card, this gives a good size to actually hold a mini pizza.

Types of Wood for GCSE, questions and learning mat
This consists of three A3 sheets for GCSE. These sheets are intended to work with my Youtube clips on " Types of Wood" there is an question sheet featuring GCSE type questions and an accompanying A3 learning mat which features all information to answer the questions. I addition there is a starter task for a later lesson to check learning Together these resources could be used as an introductory lesson on Types of wood.
Design Brief & Specification booklet for GCSE NEA
Three sheets to assist students in compiling information to then produce the Design Brief & Specification sheet for their GCSE NEA. I use these over a couple of lessons to allow students to gather the information to produce a high quality Specification and Design Brief nea sheet. The various exam boards do not allow providing frameworks for writing, however, I personally feel that if these are not given to students electronically but write on these sheets as they research in each area then use the booklet to compile the NEA sheets in their own style.
Workshop Safety Poster Pack Hand Tools
Set of A3 workshop safety posters for hand tools, these type of posters are important learning tools as well as contributing to essential elements of risk assessment , in teaching students how to mitigate risks when using these tools.

Orthographic Drawing Do It Now Tasks lesson starters
A set of seven lesson starters based around orthographic drawing. These are supported by YouTube clips of about five minutes. Use these to introduce Orthographic Drawing principles, as standalone starters or as part of a graphics project. These are three to an A4 sheet, they are great for settling a class quickly and moving on to a main part of a lesson.

Isometric Do It Now Tasks
A set of eight do it now or though the door tasks. These start with more simple tasks and increase in complexity. suitable for starter activities for KS3 or KS4 design and technology lessons. Seven of these have YouTube tutorials showing simply how to do each one. Watching these clips which are 3-5 minute are great as a settler at the start of a lesson. used over a few weeks will build students skills in isometric drawing. these could also be used as a home learning task with the Youtube clip posted into a virtual classroom. I use the TNT isometric as a bonus work.
Food Packaging Project Pack
This project pack contains three food packaging templates for A pizza box, a cupcake box and a triangle chocolate bar

Product Disassembly Help sheets for A Level Product Design
Two A3 product disassembly Help sheets for A Level Product Design.
These are intended to be used to support practical disassembly of existing products. These might be used as part of a product design lesson or to direct students who are completing their NEA ``practical investigations’ ’ these sheets would enable such students to maximise the marks avalble in section A of the NEA coursework.
Orthographic drawing with Techsoft CAD software
A set of A3 worksheets to guide student through the step by step process of creating 3rd angle orthographic drawings. these sheets are supported by dedicated Youtube clips showing each stage of producing these drawings. The worksheets together with the video clips will allow all students to produce high quality outcomes.
A suggested model would be to set watching the YouTube clip as homework and use the worksheets as prompts in the lesson where students can use the CAD software.

**Sustainability and the Six R’s for KS3 **
Two worksheets and a lesson starter activity for a single KS3 lesson that covers Sustanable design ansnd the six R’s. These worksheets can be used together with Clips on my Youtube channel . There is a clip explaining the two toothbrushes and also a more general clip expilaining the six R’s. I would suggest starting the lesson off with the Six R’s cilp and completing the starter activity. Then watch the toothbrush comparison and complete the worksheet.

A set of questions on an A3 sheet based around wood processes, the sheet contains two drawing type questions as these are common in most of the GCSE specifications.
this sheet could be used as a lesson covering GCSE D&T generally or as part of a revision study lesson.

Product Analysis Exam type questions for A Level Product Design Lemon Juicers
This resource is a longer response type of A level Product Design question, This question is about looking at two contrasting products and comparing them in terms of materials and processes used for manufacture. This question also has links to the work of Philippe Starck and postmodern design.
When answering this type of question many students, despite producing paragraphs of text fail to gain the full mark available for the question. This consists of two A3 sheets one is a question sheet and the second contains full marking guidance from the examiner, for the exam. This then enables students to complete the question and then ideally peer mark the response. These sheets would be ideal for a stand alone a level question or as a revision or exam practice task.

This is two A level Product design questions, featuring questions around the subject of Bio-polymers, the topical subject has appeared more frequently recently. This consists of thee A3 sheets one is a question sheet with two longer format questions and the other two sheets contain full marking guidance and tips from the examiner. This then enables students to complete the questions and then ideally peer mark the response. These sheets would be ideal for a stand alone A level question or as revision work.

An A3 poster which takes a look at two examples of what could be considered postmodern design, by designer Philippe Starck. The two products featured are
the Juicy Salif Lemon Squeezer and the Flos Gun Table Lamp.
The descriptions on the sheet are intended to encourage students to consider influences and functionality of both products. This could be printed A3 as a poster or A4 for a handout to acompany a Product Design lesson.

These are sheets covering clips 1-3 of the words that you need to know.
This resource comprises;
1 x A3 sheet with 18 words
3 x A4 sheets with 6 words each
these can be used as a revision resource, or I use them as home learning by placing the Youtube clip in the classroom, students learn the words and the complete a sheet of six words at the start of the lesson
